We are now well into Euro 2020; with the round of 16 games concluding this evening, we’ll have had forty-four games with another seven to come. That’s a lot of armchair viewing!
However, that’s only the beginning of a jam-packed year of sport. We have the Wimbledon Championships starting today; missing from the calendar last year, we look forward to a return to SW19, strawberries and great tennis.
Sunday 18th July is the British Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone, the same day as the climax to the Tour de France. Five days later, we can enjoy the opening ceremony of the 32nd Olympic Games in Japan closely followed by the Paralympics. On 24th July, the British and Irish Lions play the first of three Test Matches against South Africa in Johannesburg.
If golf’s your sport, we’ve got the Scottish Open starting on the 8th July, the Open Championship at Royal St. George’s on the 15th, the Solheim Cup at the Inverness Club, Toledo on 31st August and the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin on the 24th September.
And don’t forget, we’ve got the new football seasons in Scotland and England starting soon along with the various European competitions and the World Cup Qualifiers.
