We appreciate the mention in The Herald’s Stylish Living magazine

17 August 2011

Stylish%2BLiving

Our thanks to Heather MacLeod for the mention she gave us in The Herald‘s Stylish Living magazine today (Wednesday 17th August).

I response to this question from a reader, “I want to buy a classic sofa for my living room. Can you recommend a particular make or model?”, Heather gave the following answer:

“While appearance and comfort are critical, so is the quality of build. A sofa with a sprung base will stand the test of time. The team at John Dick & Son recommend feeling a sofa to ensure it is solid, that the fabric is taut on the frame and that the cushions have a good weight. A cushion with added interior foam is firmer and keeps its shape, while feather filling gives a soft seat, but requires regular plumping to retain its shape.”

Heather’s answer is much appreciated but it also highlights one of the problems faced by many of our customers who have considered the option of buying online – they can’t actually touch or try the sofa.

Buying a new suite for your home is a fairly major decision and it’s one you want to get right so, being able to see it and sit on it is essential. We go even further; we regularly invite customers to throw off their shoes and get into their favourite ‘lounging’ position so they can experience exactly what it’s like.

Another key factor when buying from our showroom as opposed to online is colour correctness; we have had customers who have bought online only to discover their purchase is not the correct colour or tone. Here at John Dick & Son it’s never a problem, we have a fully stocked sample room so you can choose the exact colour you want – you can even match it with curtain fabric and wall coverings from our extensive range of sample books.

Finally, you may wish to read what a satisfied customer said about our delivery service and compare that with buying online – we take all of the stress out of the delivery process. Read the blog post here.
