The recent run of mild weather has been very welcome, however is the seemingly changing climate having an unconscious affect on our living habits too?
Its now November yet there are still some leaves on the trees, and since the temperature has consistently been above 11 degrees, we still have to mow the lawn. Therefore, it is little wonder our thoughts haven’t yet turned to winter, or cozy nights in front of the fire – at least not until last weekend.
Perhaps the act of putting our clocks back was the first significant reminder that we have moved quietly from summer to autumn, and now we are at the onset of winter. Suddenly we will be rushing for the cozy blankets and resetting the heating dials when the inevitable cold snap suddenly hits.
There are easy things you can do to make the transition from summer to winter bearable, and more comfortable. Simple things such as adding a few throws in warm autumn colours to your sofas; these will provide a much warmer look and they may be useful to wrap around you if it gets really cold off an evening!
Changing lampshades too can make a room warmer and more welcoming in the winter months. And, swapping the Sunflowers for warm Azaleas will always add additional warm colours to the room, however it wont be too long before it’s time to entertain the biggest winter foliage of all – your Christmas tree!
Of course, you may want to make bigger and more permanent changes like a new sofa or dining set before you welcome family and friends into your home over Christmas, and even though the winter has somewhat sneaked up on us, there is still time to order for pre Christmas delivery. However, you need to do this soon as our manufacturers are nearing the time to close the order books for the year.
