Last month we launched our new range of Italian furniture from Bontempi, and at the time we mentioned that Italian design and style is not only about fashion and beautiful cars. In fact, Italy is renowned for furniture design, so it’s little wonder that Milan hosts one of the best interiors shows in the world, Salone Del Mobile, Milano. With over 300,000 visitors and over 1500 exhibitors, it’s also one of the biggest.
We were delighted to be in Milan last week to see what’s trending in the world of interiors, and to buy some new stock for our showroom.
With so much to see it really is impossible to cover everything we saw, but below you will see a selection of the furniture on display at the show.
As far as trends go, we noticed a strong emphasis on vivid colours – oranges, greens and blues being the most evident. Deep buttoning is also fashionable, we saw it not just in sofas and chairs, but also in headboards.
In cabinets, we saw a widespread use of retro styled American walnut and oak softened with rounded edges and corners. However, it wasn’t all timber, we also saw many pieces using marble and ceramic tops. Coffee tables also seem to be making a comeback, with many room settings using two or three tables of varying size in a single layout.
We were particularly impressed with the lighting designs; in fact, we bought some great pieces that will be arriving in the showroom soon. Oversized, refined industrial styling was very apparent with many of the premier manufacturers.
It truly was a wonderful show, with lots of exciting designs, too many to bring you in a single post, but we hope the picture selection below gives you an idea of the styles currently influencing the market.
The pieces we bought at the show will be starting to arrive in the showroom, so please make sure you pop in and see what’s new. Better still, subscribe to our mailing list on the Home page of the website and we’ll keep you updated on everything that’s happening in the showroom.
You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter where we post regular updates about new arrivals in the showroom.
