Copper is much more evident in our daily lives than you might imagine. Yes, we probably all cast aside the copper change from our pockets and bags into a jar, and we may even appreciate that every home makes extensive use of copper wire. Also, around the west of Scotland its chemical element reference of ‘Cu’ can be heard on a daily basis!
But, did you know the adult body contains between 1.4 and 2.1mg of copper per kilogram of body weight? Hence a healthy human weighing 60 kilogram contains approximately a tenth of 0.1g of copper. However, this small amount is essential to overall human well-being.
Perhaps this goes some way to explaining the popularity of the copper in design, and it seems this year it is more popular than ever with lots of copper influences apparent around the showroom.
Whilst you may expect to see bronze used in ornaments such as the bowl pictured above, it is also very evident at the moment in fabrics and wall coverings. It follows from the trend of all things industrial, and perhaps even a little nod to the sub genre, Steam Punk!
Indeed, it is an easy metal to live with and to incorporate into your interior; it’s warm and gives off a nice glow. It particularly complements jade greens, and blues as shown in the lamp base on the right.
Wether it is wall coverings, fabrics, lamps, mirrors, ornaments, or even a ceramic topped table, we’re sure we’ll have something just for you.
It’s also worth remembering the 9th wedding anniversary is your Copper Wedding, so if you are nearing this milestone, a gift for the home could enhance your well-being!
