Leny Estate in Callander is the perfect retreat for those looking for a relaxing break in Perthshire; set in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park it offers an ideal escape from the city.  It is also the venue of our latest design project. We have recently finished the complete refurbishment of Orchard  Cottage, a two bedroom property offering magnificent views of the Perthshire hills.

Although it is most definitely a domestic interior, this was a commercial project where the budget was very much influenced by the rental income potential of the cottage.  So, working on a fixed budget and an agreed timescale we were tasked with the job of transforming Orchard Cottage.

However, it was more than simply redecorating and new furnishings, we also implemented some changes that vastly improved the guest experience.  For example, the clever concealment of a once obtrusive bathroom entrance has improved both the appearance and functionality of one of the bedrooms.  So, whilst the wall coverings, curtains and furnishings make a pleasing impact for new guests, it is the work we have done to improve the use of the space that really transformed it into a home-from-home and somewhere that people want to return to again and again.

Leny’s owner has the foresight to appreciate the value of continuous upgrading and improvement and now the estate is benefiting from a much greater yield from Orchard Cottage. Indeed, bookings taken since the refurbishment more than justify the investment.

We have included some before and after images to let you see just what was achieved on a very tightly controlled budget. Hopefully they will provide you with some inspiration of what you can achieve when working with a team of professional designers who appreciate what guests are looking for when the want to put a relaxing break in their calendar.
