Moving house can be one of the most stressful things in life but when Colin & Christine McKerracher bought their new house we were delighted to assist in making this exciting experience as stress-free as possible.
Following their retirement, the couple decided that they would like to make a completely fresh start and Lynsey from our interior design team enjoyed working closely with them to create a home where they could enjoy their retirement together. The main lounge, shown above, is where the couple enjoy entertaining in comfort and style. The two grand sofas take centre stage in the room and create a fantastic impression but it’s the small details that really set interiors apart and this room is no exception. Beautiful rope tie backs hold the magnificent curtains perfectly in place and the stunning upholstered pelmets in a coordinating fabric subtly pick up on the contrast edge on the curtains and cushions. When daylight fades the room is enlivened with the warm glow from the elegant table lamps that sit on a pair of Art Deco style consoles. Light is also reflected in the mirrors above them, adding to the room’s spacious and warm feeling.
Something less formal…
For their family room, the McKerracher’s chose a comfortable and contemporary, corner sofa from our Fama range. The sofa is available in many configurations and an array of materials so was perfect for creating something to suit the space. Leathers was chosen for its practicality and brought to life by mixing it with textured fabrics to bring a vibrant injection of colour to the room. The simple but sleek curtains perfectly frame the doors leading into the garden and the detail on the pole finials pick up on the colours in the room add that designer touch! This room may have a more casual feel but it has certainly created a warm hub of the home.
A touch of elegance…
The dining room is simple yet elegant, the focal point being the sleek, high gloss dining table which makes a statement in a sharp, graphite tone. The highlights of chrome in the table are complimented by a simple but very effective, large console in stainless steel and glass with a smoked mirror above. Statement lamps sit at either side of a large console with great effect, offering subdued and soft lighting to the space. The room is further complimented by stunning curtains in a beautifully patterned silver and charcoal silk.
The most striking thing about the McKerracher’s home is the subtle but important finishing touches in each room. The smallest detail can make a big impact and help create a space that feels harmonious and welcoming.
“We are delighted with our new home. The thought of moving was stressful enough without the added pressure of furnishing every room in the house. John Dick & Son were fabulous right from the start. We had no idea what we wanted when we began but Lynsey helped us every step of the way. She introduced us to new ideas that would never have occurred to us and we are delighted with the outcome.John Dick & Son relieved us of a lot of stress, everything was done as promised, right down to the actual time deliveries would arrive. We’re very happy we discovered them when we did.”
